SCHOLARSHIP
WINNERS
Every year the Floral Park Chamber of
Commerce proudly sponsors scholarship awards to local students as part of
its community service. This program recognizes local students for
outstanding achievement through an essay contest held at the five local
schools. Congratulations are in order to the following students who won a
Floral Park Chamber award: Kathleen Downes from Floral Park Memorial HS,
Megan Mullaney from Sewanhaka HS, Jake Thottam from John Lewis Childs
School, Collette Savignano from Floral Park-Bellerose School and Delanie
Fekert from Our Lady of Victory School. The Chamber thanks Barbara Bach for
coordinating this program.
BUSINESS PERSON
OF THE YEAR
Each year, the Nassau Council of Chambers
of Commerce requests each Chamber to select an honoree for the Small
Business Person of the Year from our Chamber, This years honoree is
JOANNE K ADAMS from The New York Racing Association. Joanne will
receive her award at the Legislative Breakfast held on October 7, 2011 at
the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Congratulations to Joanne !!
Every
year the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce proudly sponsors scholarship awards
to local students as part of its community service. Chamber members
appreciate the residents who patronize their businesses and wish to
encourage the success of local outstanding students.
The Floral Park Chamber established the elementary school awards to raise
the students’ awareness of their school and community through an essay
contest. Every year, the Chamber members donate bonds to worthy graduates of
the Floral Park-Bellerose School, the John Lewis Childs School and Our Lady
of Victory School. The applications are distributed through the schools, and
the awards are presented at graduation or special school event.
The Floral Park Chamber also established the high school awards to assist
deserving college-bound seniors who are active in school and community
activities. The applicants must write an essay about being a businessperson
in the 21st century. Applications are available through the Guidance
Department at Floral Park Memorial HS and Sewanhaka HS. An application is
featured below. The winners are announced at the
Senior Awards Night for each school.
For further information, please contact Scholarship Chairperson: Barbara
Bach at (516) 659-6551.
The chamber has made a few advancements on the website recently that will
help our members. Our newly pay-on-line feature allows members to pay for
various fees with credit cards or Pay Pal.
Also, we've instituted Constant Contacts to our social media area that will
get the word out on Chamber meetings & events to all our members more
efficiently and with better clarity.
Introducing - Our N-E-W Member Directory!!
This roll-out of our new "interactive" member directory begins with
Mildred Tassone's introduction of the new HTML -5 and I-frame placement
within our existing website. Still a familiar look, but with a lot more
usefulness now with the ability to add your own logo/thumbnails, descriptive text and contact
info. Also, its centered around giving our members more social media
tools to bolster their SEO (search engine optimization) ranking. Yes, there
will be help with the new look and function aspects of the on-line
directory, but please make allowances for first come first served
appointments. Contact us at: info@floralparkchamber.org
NEW KIOSK
The Chamber has had an offer from AAA Taxi to pay for one half of a new
Kiosk. The Chamber would pay for the other half and we have approached the
Village for locations on Jericho Tpke.
The existing kiosk, on Tulip Avenue, is over 10 years old and was paid for
with NYS grant money and Chamber funds.
Please use your Smart Phone to interact with our Website & Facebook Business
Page with QR codes graphic in the Kiosk (facing train sta.). Scan over One
of the (little squares) and take a pic (if need- download app) and bam!
You've got the Chamber on-line!
BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
Each year, the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce requests each Chamber
to select an honoree for the Small Business Person of the Year. This years honoree
has been selected and will be announced shortly for their award presentation
at a Legislative Breakfast, held on October 15, 2010 at the Crest
Hollow Country Club.
Every
Spring, we print 12,00 Business Directories and they're mailed to over 10,000
homes & apartments within the 11001 zip code. They are also available at the Post Office lobby,
Village Hall and the Floral Park Library. The directory is on its way to the
printer and will be mailed in late April. We will try and deliver at least
25 directories to every member who has a store or an office. Please call the
chamber if you need more or less than 25 at: 516 641-1200. Or email the
president at: fpccpresident@aol.com.
They can always be picked up at the office of the chamber president at 122
Plainfield Ave. if you need more throughout the year. Our paid membership is
currently - 168 members.

reveal programs and services we should consider. Participation involves
attending four meeting. If you would like to help out and serve on this
